After the hustle and joy of the holidays, the darker winter months can feel heavy. Shorter days, less sunlight, and disrupted routines can all contribute to what many people experience as the post-holiday slump or Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).
If you’re noticing low energy, changes in mood, trouble sleeping, or a lack of motivation, it doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong—it means your body and brain may be missing light.
𝗔 𝗳𝗲𝘄 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻:
• Get outside during daylight hours when possible, even for a short walk
• Keep a consistent sleep and wake routine
• Move your body in ways that feel manageable
• Stay connected—reach out to friends, family, or supports
• Be kind to yourself and lower expectations when needed

Using a light box (a special lamp that mimics natural sunlight) for 20–30 minutes in the morning can help regulate your internal clock, boost mood, and improve energy and focus. Many people find it especially helpful during these darker months.
